Wanderers and Brentford played out an entertaining 0-0 draw as both sides attacking football proved fruitless.
Free-scoring Brentford had the better of the first half when Ryan Allsop tipped Mbeumo’s low shot onto the post, helping Wycombe keep their second clean sheet of the season in twelve attempts. Wycombe’s best chance before half-time came from Curtis Thompson with a miscued cross that almost lobbed Raya in the Brentford goal.
Wycombe dominated the second half, causing Brentford problems with their aerial bombardment. The Blues came closest to breaking the deadlock through Daryl Horgan’s volley following a long throw-in, and substitute Alex Samuel also went close with a late effort from the edge of the box.
Brentford threatened in patches, but were frustrated through Wycombe’s fast-pressing and physical display. Top-scorer Ivan Toney was kept quiet throughout the match, his highlight was receiving a yellow card after the final whistle for pushing Jack Grimmer.
The draw means Wycombe remain in the relegation zone and Brentford remain in the top-half after 3 consecutive draws.
