Chelsea had a great start to the game it seemed. Within a minute Chelsea had a chance through a long pass from Thiago Silva reaching Hakim Ziyech who turned and hit the ball with his left. A decent chance but you wouldn’t expect the keeper to be troubled too much with it.
Not long after that Mason Mount put in a good cross from a corner on the left that found Giroud running near post but he put it wide. A chance we’d usually expect the frenchmen to convert.
Despite Chelsea having chances in the first few minutes, it was Leeds who took the lead early. A great pass from Kalvin Phillips from the left put Bamford in behind and too quick for Kurt Zouma to do anything. The former Chelsea player took the ball around Mendy to make it 1-0 with only three minutes played.

Leeds young keeper Meslier, 20 year old, poor pass fell to Giroud just outside the box which he shot with his left foot wide to the right.
Chelsea’s equaliser came from the man inform, Giroud. Reece James overlapped Ziyech and played a great ball to Giroud who stuck his leg out to convert quality goal in the 26th minute.
However, the goal was followed by bad news for Chelsea as Ziyech had to come off the pitch for Christian Pulisic. After the game Lampard confirmed the injury and said: “Hamstring, felt it go.”
The first half ended with Chelsea and Leeds tied at 1-1.
In the 53rd minute Reece James whipped in a freekick near post from the left and Kai Havertz had a free header at the near post but put it over and wide. A chance he really should be doing better with.
Minutes after Leeds had a good chance as the ball fell to Raphina on Leeds’ right who had his shot blocked by Thiago Silva. The ball came back to him but he put second attempt wide.
At the hour mark Werner received the ball inside the box on the right but had his shot blocked by Alioski. Werner had another chance with the rebound but to the keepers near post and it was saved.
