Chelsea suffer 2-0 defeat at the King Power Stadium after goals from Ndidi and Maddison.
Pulisic had his 50th appearance for Chelsea, which unfortunately ended in another disappointing performance from Chelsea.
A questionable team selection from Lampard, as Zouma misses his second game in a row and Antonio Rudiger starts back to back games for the Blues. Ziyech also dropped by Lampard.
Leicester took the lead early after a great goal from Wilfred Ndidi, in the 6th minute. Marc Albrighton pulled the ball back for Harvey Barnes, who failed to make a connection. The ball bubbled to Ndidi outside the box whose shot hit the inside of the right post and in.
1-0 to Leicester.
The next big chance would come to Leicester ten minutes later through James Maddison, who saw shot from outside the box hit the crossbar.
Chelsea’s first good chance of the game came at the 20-minute mark. A Mason Mount corner from the left found Thiago Silva at the near post but the header didn’t trouble Kaspar Schmeichel who punched it out.
31st minute Chelsea got their best chance of the half when Pulisic played a good pass in front of Hudson-Odoi on his right to finish, but the 21 year old went for the near post and failed to get a shot on target.
Leicester would create a big chance moments later as Vardy was found in behind, he went to chip Mendy but the keeper stopped it. Even if he had scored, there was a big possibility it would have been disallowed for an offside.
37th Minute, Mount passed to Pulisic who was running towards the box and was fouled. Initially looked like a penalty but VAR clarified it to be a freekick. Mount hit the freekick over the bar.
A long ball from Albrighton to Vardy didn’t reach him after a slight push from Rudiger. The ball alluded the Chelsea defenders and fell to Maddison who calmly slotted it away for Leicester’s second goal in the 41st minute.
First half: Leicester 2 – 0 Chelsea
56th minute Leicester had a promising attack following a failed Chelsea attack. Vardy found Tielemans in space who had a great opportunity to make it 3-0, but Mendy was able to save the shot.
Chelsea didn’t really create much chances in the second half, despite Lampard bringing on Ziyech and Werner to try change the game.
Werner’s fortunate looked to have turned around when he scored in the 85th minute meeting a cross from a freekick. Unfortunately for Chelsea, VAR ruled it just offside.
After another disappointing performance, the pressure is on Chelsea and Lampard to deliver against Wolves.
Full time: Leicester 2-0 Chelsea
Man of the Match: James Maddison
