Southampton through to the fifth round of the FA Cup after an own goal from Arsenal defender, Gabriel.
First Half: 1-0
A good chance for Southampton came early on in the tie, with a corner from England international Ward- Prowse who curls the ball in awkwardly for Leno and it pings off the crossbar.
Some dominant play from Saints saw Che Adams take the ball down the wing, around Gabriel and he is one on one with Leno. Shots off and it is low, but is easily saved by the keeper. The rebound is there, but Holding picks up the pieces with Armstrong on the case. Holding goes to clear it, but Armstrong is in the way and blocks it from getting anywhere. Goal kick. Good play from the Southern side. By far the best side at this point.
24 minutes in at this point and the young right back Walker Peters has the ball on the wing, fires in a cross which is tapped in by Brazilian centre back Gabriel. Absolute shocker from him here. Saints 1-0 up.
Yet another chance for Southampton comes from a corner, where Danny Ings puts it just wide.
Arsenal with their first major opportunity saw Nicolas Pepe take on a shot in the box with his clinical left foot, but is blocked. The London side starting to knock on the door of Southampton now.
Second Half: 1-0
In the second half, fans watched Arsenal dominate a lot more as you imagine they would.
However, not all this is true as Ings is released on the run. He takes on the shot, Leno dives, it hits the post bounces out and hits the keeper again but instead goes out.
Constant pressure from Arsenal saw Pepe whip in a great cross, but with Southamptons height, they got it away. Still 1-0.
Good chance for Arsenal as Bellerin whips in a cross for Holding who just taps it over the bar. Arsenal really wanting an equaliser.
Nketiah is put through by a good cross and all he has to do is put it past the English keeper Forster but is saved after a bad shot at goal.
In the dying minutes of the game sees Saka put in a great cross for Lacazette who just can’t get his head on it and it goes straight out.
Last chance for Arsenal now, and Nketiah is through. He aims for the top-right corner and doesn’t quite get there. That was the chance for the equaliser.
Full Time- Southampton 1-0 Arsenal
Man Of The Match: Kyle Walker-Peters, what a game for him. Delivered in some great crosses and one lead to a mistake from Arsenal. One to watch and should have a good career.
