Chelsea move up to fourth in the league after a dominant 4-1 victory against Crystal Palace.
Chelsea picked up an important three points that put them back into the top four. After Liverpool’s win against Aston Villa, the pressure was on the Blues to win and bounce back from their 5-2 defeat to West Brom,
Kai Havertz played a good game and got himself a goal although he could have had many more. Christian Pulisic also put in a great performance scoring twice and perhaps making a strong argument to start Chelsea’s next game in the Champions League.
Chelsea’s first goal came in the eighth minute, he was given time in the box and used it well with a composed finish with his left foot across goal, into the bottom left corner.
Pulisic would add to the scoring minutes later with an amazing finish. Havertz cut the ball back to Pulisic on the left and he put the ball in the top left corner with pace and power.
Mason Mount created Chelsea’s third goal and it was Kurt Zouma who would score his fourth header of the season thanks to a great cross from a freekick from Mount.
The only player that has scored more headers than Zouma this season is Dominic Calvert-Lewin
A great first half from Chelsea and an impressive show from Havertz who looked great upfront.
The second half saw Chelsea mostly in control, but there was the hope of a comeback from Crystal Palace for a moment. Christian Benteke rose above Chilwell after a great cross from Jeffrey Schlupp in the 63rd minute.
However, that would end up being the only shot of the game for Palace. Pulisic scored his second goal in the 78th minute. Reece James’ cross was deflected by former Chelsea player Gary Cahill.
The deflection was anticipated by Pulisic who came in with pace and got a touch on the ball at the far post.
Chelsea is now fourth in the league, although this can change if West Ham defeats Leicester on Sunday and if Tottenham defeats Manchester United.
An impressive display from Tuchel’s Blues who could have scored even more than four goals.
Chelsea’s next game is against Porto. They go into the second leg with a 2-0 advantage and should progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Full-time: Crystal Palace 1-4 Chelsea
Man of the Match: Christian Pulisic
