West Ham vs Chelsea: Match Report

Timo Werner’s goal takes Chelsea into fourth after 1-0 win.

Chelsea moved into fourth place in the league after a big win over West Ham. Liverpool earlier dropped points against Newcastle, so this game put the Blues four points ahead of the current Premier League Champions.

Chelsea also went three points ahead of West Ham, and one point behind Leicester who play Crystal Palace on Monday.

Their first big chance of the game early. Mason Mount was on the right and picked out Timo Werner in space, inside the box.

Werner couldn’t get a good connection on his first time shot, and it went over. A great chance to get a goal in the third minute.

Werner would set up Chelsea’s next great opportunity in the 14th minute. He picked out Christian Pulisic in space inside the box, from the right.

Pulisic’s shot was straight at Lukasz Fabianksi however, a chance he really should be scoring.

Despite West Ham playing better and dominating play in the later stages of the first half, it was Chelsea who would score first.

Chelsea attacked the West Ham box quickly, and Pulisic released the ball to Chilwell on the left. He put in a low cross to Werner who arrived in the middle of the box for an easy finish just before the half ended.
