Liverpool F.C. is a professional football club that play in the top division of English football. As one of the most successful football clubs of England in the 20th century, and one of the most successful clubs in the history of English football, Liverpool have won 19 league titles, seven FA Cups, eight League Cups and 15 Community Shields. They are also a force in European football with six European Cups, three UEFA Cups, four UEFA Super Cups and one Club World Cup. Liverpool and Anfield are world-renowned for their famous atmosphere, especially on those big European nights.
Liverpool established itself as a major force in English and European football in the 1970s and 1980s, when Bill Shankley, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan and Kenny Dalglish led the club to a combined 11 League titles and four European Cups. Liverpool won two further European Cups in 2005 and 2019 under the management of Rafael Benítez and Jurgen Klopp, respectively, the latter of whom led Liverpool to a nineteenth League title in 2020, the club’s first during the Premier League era.
Some of the greatest and most decorated players of all time have worn the famous Liver bird on their shirt. Kenny Dalglish, John Barnes and Ian Rush have all played in Liverpool’s glory days, while more recently, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Luis Suarez all became iconic figures alongside many others.
Currently, Liverpool is one of the most dominant and threatening clubs on the planet thanks to a rebuild from Klopp. A foundation including James Milner and Jordan Henderson has been added to with the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah all propelling this Liverpool side to the top. A great youth academy has slowly but surely edged players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones into the main team, combined with a famous scouting regime, bargaining players such as Andrew Robertson and Georgino Wijnaldum to craft a tricky and solid team. Every player will need to play their part to guide Liverpool to a 20th league title.
