INTRODUCTION…
Manchester United. The most successful club of the Premier League era.
But my oh my, you wouldn’t guess it. Since Sir Alex Ferguson departed the club in 2013, United fans have had to drastically re-evaluate their previously unerring optimism. The post-Ferguson era has been defined by poor squad recruitment, ill-fitting managers and ultimately, disappointing performances.
There have, however, been flashes of that past brilliance in the last seven years. Matchdays when we momentarily allowed ourselves to believe that the good times were back. Despite all the pain, and the fact that there are now only two players in the squad remaining from the Ferguson era (with one of them being Phil Jones), United fans know that the days of rampant success of past years will return. It’s just a matter of time.
